About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Mining Engineer, for a permanent full-time (5/2 – 4/3 roster), based at Cataby. This is an exciting new role, that will provide strategic guidance to our Leadership team, for the financial, technical, environmental and safety aspects of our mining operations. Reporting to our General Manager – Operations, this role will be instrumental to the safe and efficient achievement of our commercial production targets.
About You
- 7+ years’ experience in a similar role (exposure to Mineral Sand Processing highly regarded)
- Exposure to large-scale mining projects, and experience with market leading technologies & industry best practice
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher), in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or related field
- Strong knowledge of relevant cost principles, methods and equipment
- Display a clear commitment and focus on the health, safety and well-being of all employees
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven leadership abilities, interpersonal and communication skills
- Hold a valid Australian Drivers Licence
- Willingness to undertake a Pre-Employment Medical & Drug / Alcohol Screen
Responsibilities
- Develop and drive efficient and sustainable earthmoving systems and processes, in consultation with the Project Team, with a strong focus on minimising environmental impacts and improving safety
- Conduct analysis of operational costs to identify inefficiencies, uncover cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies that enhance productivity and overall project profitability
- Coordinate with client geologists, metallurgists, planners, and other stakeholders to optimise resource recovery and ensure project outcomes align with operational activities
- Monitor operations and leverage technologies, such as mining software, onboard GNSS systems and Fleet management systems, to drive real-time analysis, decision-making, and performance improvements.
- Develop detailed cost estimates in collaboration with the Project and Mining Manager, covering labour, equipment, materials, and overhead to support accurate budgeting.
- Ability to forecast costs across various project phases using your industry-standard tools and techniques
- Ensure the accuracy of project variations by thoroughly reviewing and validating all changes to scope and contract and manage the claims process to secure a fair resolution for work completed within and outside normal operations
