Piacentini and Son

Piacentini & Son have developed a reputation for resolving material handling challenges. Their innovative design and development techniques are evident in every part of the construction and maintenance of fixed plant and infrastructure. As a result of their background in the development of equipment for use in their own mining and earthmoving operations, Piacentini & Son are unmatched in their mechanical engineering skills, knowledge of the industry and service requirements.

Piacentini & Son have a large engineering facility in Picton in the south west of Western Australia. The facility includes steel fabrication, mechanical fitting, machine shop and protective coating services. All engineering solutions are designed, developed and constructed with safety, reliability and production in mind, ensuring that the highest standards are achieved.

Dozer Trap Operations

Piacentini & Son are pioneers in bulk mining techniques and have developed a system referred to as dozer trap operations. The specialist design and construction of these units allow bulk material handing with minimal labour and machinery inputs. The dozer trap units designed and operated by Piacentini & Son have a capacity of up to 3000 tonnes per throughput and can be used to slurry material and pump it, or to feed conveyor belt lines.

Multi Feed Drive Over Hoppers

Piacentini & Son design, develop, construct and operate multi feed drive over hopper mining units that direct feed via scrapers, dump trucks and front end loaders. The units were first designed and constructed by Piacentini & Son for use in their own contracting business and are now sold directly to clients. The multipurpose units provide the flexibility to use the most cost-effective mining methods available in each area, allowing the blending of materials, with tilting grids to remove rock type material from the tyre tracks on the drive-over hopper. This reduces the risk of injury and prevents mechanical damage to the mobile plant.

Dump Truck Feed Hoppers

Piacentini & Son design, develop, construct and operate hoppers to suit 100 tonne dump trucks direct feeding into the hopper. The units have a tilting grid to remove large rock type material and the ore is screened by a vibrating grizzly before it is transported away for further processing on a conveyor system.

Road Train Unloading Facilities

Piacentini & Son develop drive over hopper systems to unload road trains, reducing the time in tipping trailers and limiting the amount of room required to stack materials.

Shed Stacking

Piacentini & Son develop customised mobile shed stackers for stacking storage sheds to their maximum capacity with a minimal amount of work. The stacking machine is operated by its own diesel engine and can be direct fed by a loader or a 6x4 rigid truck that has reduced the cost associated with shed stacking, and in some cases, increased the volume that can be stacked in the sheds.

Screening Sand Products

Piacentini & Son provide mobile screening plants that will produce up to 3 different products and operate up to 300 tonnes per hour.

Wet Screening

Piacentini & Son design and construct vibrating screens, drum scrubbers with rotary wet screens.

Conveying and Mobile Stacking

Piacentini & Son develop conveying and stacking options for their clients. Conveyors and stackers can be made to suit specific requirements and used equipment options are also available for hire or sale.

Cyclone Stackers

Piacentini & Son designed and constructed cyclone stackers for use in their operations and for clients.

Design and Construction Capabilities

Piacentini & Son’s design team has extensive experience in mobile plant, mining and materials handling; with the ability to design, construct, deliver and operate the equipment in sites across Australia. Piacentini & Son partners with clients to ensure that their requirements are met at all stages, from feasibility studies to site operations.

Equipment Refurbishment and Re-design

Piacentini & Son can source used equipment from local markets and around the world, to assist clients requiring a short lead time or with a limited budget. The design team at Piacentini & Son work with existing plants and used equipment to deliver high quality solutions.
